Sports and Academic Excellence
Sports and Academic Excellence (SAE) is a program that uses sports as a vehicle to deliver educational outcomes and improves student engagement. We have developed supportive systems to help achieve academic success for the students in SAE. Some of the key initiatives that have been implemented are active pedagogies, integrated assessments, and cross-curricular learning.
Over the past three years, the SAE program has gone from a single-year level program, across two curriculum areas, with three teachers and 25 students . To now having a program in every year level, across seven curriculum areas, with 12 teachers and 100 students. This growth has provided students at Tokoroa High School with another avenue for them to achieve success in their learning.
The SAE program has a great working engine that allows these types of results and experiences to take place. The teachers that have come on board have been instrumental in the program's development and we thank them for all the work that they have done in establishing this program at Tokoroa High School.
