What Do We Offer?
A learning facility that ensures students who are pregnant or/and parenting teens have a positive, fun, and nurturing environment. A centre that provides “second chance” education for young parents, individual learning plans developed according to a student’s learning needs, a facility where each learner is appreciated as an individual and provides access to other community and nationwide education providers.
Who Can Attend?
Any young parent up to and including the age of 24, who is or are the main caregiver/s of a child or children or is expecting a child.
Where Is The Centre?
We are situated on the grounds of Tokoroa High School, Billah Street, Tokoroa - the previous Matarawa School site.
Is it Full-time?
Yes. The unit is open from 8.30 am—3.10 pm, Monday to Friday. Class times vary. Students can start anytime from 8.30 am – 9.30 am. School term: are as per secondary school.
What About Childcare?
Parents are welcome to bring their babies to the unit with them until they are 9 months. After 9 months alternative arrangements will be required. There is a number, of childcare facilities close to the centre — The Ark, Te Rau Orewa, the Punanga or a centre of your choice.

- NCEA subjects - Level’s 1 (Year 11) , 2 (Year 12) & 3 (Year 13)
- Correspondence School subjects through Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu
- Tokoroa High School programmes
- Open Polytechnic courses, including degrees
- PORSE Early Childhood Education Training (NZ)
- STAR / Gateway courses/placements
- Drivers licenses
